Messy Grace
Caleb Kaltenbach
Messy Grace is a powerful story of tension, love, and transformation. Raised by LGBT parents and shaped by that world, Caleb Kaltenbach never expected to become a Christian—let alone a pastor. But when he did, he found himself standing in the middle of one of the Church’s most divisive conversations.
With honesty and humility, Messy Grace invites us to hold both conviction and compassion—loving others deeply without letting go of truth. It’s a must-read for anyone navigating faith, family, and the complexity of real-life relationships.
Why Does God Care Who I Sleep With?
Sam AlLberry
If there’s one book we recommend on Christian sexuality, it’s this one. Whether you’re a parent, pastor, youth leader, or simply navigating your own questions, this book casts a hopeful, compelling vision of what God designed sex and sexuality to be.
Rather than centering on what’s broken, it points to what is good, beautiful, and true—offering language that equips you to teach, disciple, and live with clarity and grace.
People to Be Loved
Preston Sprinkle
In the extreme positions surrounding homosexuality (blanket acceptance or blanket condemnation), Preston Sprinkle gives voice to how Christians can disagree with and yet still love their neighbor. This book humanizes those within the LGBTQ+ community and those within the church who are wrestling with their faith and sexuality.
Sprinkle, a theologian, has a unique gift of creating space for those with whom he disagrees, without compromising his own beliefs. We can all learn from the posture with which he approaches the topic of homosexuality.
Emerging Gender Identities
Mark Yarhouse & Julia Sadusky
This book offers understanding for some of the complexities that surround gender identity and the different ways people are experiencing it. Right from the start, the text sets the stage that this is a book for Christians who are seeking to engage both the conversations about gender identity and actually being in relationship with someone who is questioning or making decisions about their gender identity.
There are also quite a few “sidebars” in the book that are specific to parents who are wondering how to proceed with their child.
